Mitr Chaiyabuncha
"His movies brought entertainment to the masses," says Suthichai Yoon, The Nation's editor-in-chief. He was speaking of Mitr Chaiyabuncha, the movie superstar who tragically lost his life when he fell from a helicopter while filming a movie in 1972.

"The people were crazy for him," says popular historian Anake Nawigamune. "Many stars have been forgotten, but every year someone organises a festival to honour Mitr."

"He was handsome, and he was a gentleman. He was living everyone's dream."

This movie hero also had a great inflence on Thailand's movie industry. His presence caused the industry to thrive and justified the switch from 16 mm flim to 35 mm.
